This Collaged Portrait was created for Raster II at Ivy Tech Community College. The goal of this assignment was to create a portrait that tells a story by collaging different images together. I chose to create a portrait the held a representation of space and time.
My Process:
I started by merging two different images of galaxies together to create the background. I wanted to, from the very beginning, create a flow and rhythm of the time and space "working together", but also the distinction between the two (with color scheme and direction). I then added the models I had chosen. I chose these images because I wanted them facing opposite directions but with similar expressions. I also wanted their eyes closed as it gives a rest as well as mystery, a thoughtfulness and yet a "blindness" that space and time have.
I then added elements of corresponding elements to both my space and time models. Meshing the woman together with the elements to make them one and then doing the necessary color and lighting corrections.
I added the background elements to complete the theme, and did final lighting adjustments.
